Dear Friends, This is your personal invitation to the Bettike Family Music Festival. It will be the first music festival held in our newly revamped Mary Laveroni Community Park in downtown Groveland, and the culmination of a six month effort to turn the Park into a beautiful small town music venue. Thanks to contributions from you, as well as lots of Bettike's friends in our community, and elsewhere, we've installed a brand new 16,000 sq. ft. sod lawn, as well as a new permanent stage and bleachers! The beautiful shade of our upper park is included in the festival area so there's plenty of space to picnic and enjoy our 2nd Stage, which will feature old friend's, many of whom you'll recognize, as well as some theatrical presentations being worked up by our children, nieces and nephews. How could we not have an Arts and Crafts Faire, Massage Village and extensive Children's Play Area too? We'll have micro-brews on tap and an assortment of home cooking including bar-b-que ribs, tri-tip sandwiches, smoked sausages, turkey drumsticks, salads and corn on the cob. We'll also have a Vegetarian Café featuring burritos, tofu, hummus, avocado and pesto sandwiches,Thai curry, and fresh squeezed lemonade. Add in chocolate dipped frozen fruit and fresh fruit smoothies and strawberry shortcake and we'll have a party goin' on. This is truly a family music festival with something for everyone and music of many genres. We've got Bluegrass, Blues, Gospel & Soul, Australian Progressive Rock, Americana, Western Swing & the sound of Old School Way-Up-in-the-Mountains Country Music, as well as the Prince of Polyester- "Mr. Dave" Lindley. Our Headliners, the legendary Elvin Bishop and His Band playing his good-time Blues and Rock, and the Taj Mahal Trio, playing his catalogue of Blues, Caribbean, Hawaiian, and World Music, will round out two days of Celebration. This Festival is dedicated to the memory of my wife, Bettike, whose spirit embodies fun and happiness. Her dance took place everyday, all day long. Her partner was each person she met. She knew in a very actual sense that all people are one. Her attitude was always one of reaching out. Her action was always to put others at ease. Her motive was always love. It's also a reunion, with family dropping in from all over northern California, as well as all our local friends from Tuolumne, Mariposa, and Calaveras county and beyond. We hope to see you there. Cheers and Love, Peter Barsotti and Family PS: Please forward this to as many friends as you can. All ARE WELCOME! |
